Auch auf dem Festland bietet Ecuador für den Reisenden einiges. Neben der Hauptstadt Quito lohnen sich Touren in das nähere Umland. Die Landschaft in Ecuador ist abwechslungsreich, die Gebirgszüge der Anden bieten beeindruckende Berggipfel und Vulkane, an der Küste gibt es tolle Strände und auch der Amazonas bietet beeindruckende Naturerlebnisse.
Mögliche Sehenswürdigkeiten
Quito
Quito, die Hauptstadt Ecuadors, liegt auf 2.850 m Höhe am Fusse des Pichincha Vulkans, eingebettet in ein grünes Andental. Quito ist eine der ältesten Städte Südamerikas, und zugleich eine der wenigen Städte, die zahlreiche Baudenkmäler und Kunstschätze der spanischen Kolonialzeit bewahren konnte. Die Altstadt wurde von der UNESCO 1979 zum Weltkulturerbe deklariert.
Guayaquil
Guayaquil ist die grösste Stadt als auch wichtigster Hafen Ecuadors. Nebst vielen Museen bietet die Stadt Sehenswürdigkeiten wir der ehemalige Hafendamm, der zur Uferpromenade Malecón 2000 ausgebaut wurde, und die angrenzende Hügelkuppe Cerro Santa Ana wurden durch umfangreiche Bau- und Renovierungsmassnahmen zu attraktiven Erholungs- und Flanierzonen umgestaltet.
Otavalo Market
Otavalo ist eine der bekanntesten Andenstädte Südamerikas und liegt ca. 2 Stunden Autofahrt vom Quito Stadtzentrum entfernt. Diese Bekanntheit ist vor allem dem berühmten Handwerksmarkt im Stadtzentrum geschuldet, welcher als der grösste in Südamerika gilt. Viele der indigenen Otavalos bereisen die ganze Welt um ihre Waren auf Handwerksmärkten und in Fussgängerzonen zu verkaufen. Die Otavalos gelten seit jeher als stolzes Volk mit einer intakten kulturellen Identität.
Cotopaxi Nationalpark
Der Nationalpark wurde 1975 als einer der neun Nationalparks von Ecuador ausgewiesen und liegt ca. 2.5 Stunden vom Quito Stadtzentrum entfernt. Er liegt am Cotopaxi, dem zweithöchsten Berg Ecuadors, der auch die Hauptattraktion des Parks ist. Hier vorkommende Tiere sind Pumas, Andenkondor, Lamas, Wildpferde und weitere Wildtiere. Weitere Attraktionen sind der Vulkan Rumiñahui, die Limpiopungo-Lagune, die Ruinen der ehemaligen Inka-Festung Pucará und der von Túpac Yupanqui im 15. Jahrhundert erbaute Inka-Palast am Fuss des Cotopaxi.
Nariz del Diablo
La Nariz del Diablo (deutsch Teufelsnase) ist ein 100 Meter hoher Felsvorsprung über der Schlucht des Rio Chanchán. Er ist das markanteste Teilstück der Zugverbindung von Riobamba (2.754 m) über Alausí (2.360 m) durch mehrere Klimazonen des Landes vom Hochland der Anden nach Sibambe (1.806 m) und an die Küste. Um diesen Felsen zu überwinden, wurden die Gleise in der steilen Wand fast übereinander gelegt und durch zwei Spitzkehren miteinander verbunden. Von Guayaquil aus erreicht man die Zugstrecke in etwa 2.5 Stunden mit dem Auto.
Cuenca
Cuenca ist die drittgrösste Stadt Ecuadors und Hauptstadt der Provinz Azuay und liegt ca. 3 Stunden von Guayaquil entfernt. Am wichtigsten Platz der Stadt, der Plaza Abdón Calderón, befinden sich die alte Kathedrale (La Catedral Vieja) mit der ältesten Orgel Ecuadors und die neue Kathedrale (La Nueva Catedral), die wegen unzähligen Erdbeben aber nie ganz fertiggestellt wurde. Die Altstadt wurde 1999 auf die Liste des Weltkulturerbes der UNESCO aufgenommen. Cuenca gilt als das „Athen Ecuadors“.

1. Tag: Transfer in
A representative will pick you up at the airport and will transfer you to the Hotel in Quito (Übernachtung voraussichtlich im Mansion del Angel).
2. Tag: Quito City – Intiñan Museum
08h00 After the breakfast we will start the visit of the main attractive places in Quito: Historical center, Plaza de la Independencia, where through a walking route you will see the Cathedral, the Government Palace and some other Churches, recognized for its adornments and golden altars. The tour will continue towards the Mirador del Panecillo, a place renowned for its beauty, where you can admire a beautiful landscape of colonial and modern Quito. We will continue to the northern part of the city heading up to the „Middle of the World City“ where the monument that divides the Northern from the Southern Hemispheres will be observed. It was built during the XVII century when a French Expedition defined the precise location of the equatorial line. We will visit the INTIÑAN museum. 3. Tag: Quito – Cotopaxi – Baños De Ambato
08h00: Located in Canton Latacunga, Cotopaxi Province, and with 5897 meters high (19347 feet), the Cotopaxi is the second highest volcano in Ecuador and one of most active in the World, the last eruption was in August, 2015. On 1975 the Cotopaxi was declared National Park, which has an extension 32255 hectares approximately. From Quito we have a 60 kilometers driving South through the Pan-American high way. Once on the place we will visit the LIMPIOPUNGO lagoon and if time permits the CHUQUIRAHUAS forest at 4200 meters over sea level. In the afternoon we will drive approximately 110 kilometers until Baños de Ambato. Note: If for some any reason is not permitted to enter in the COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK, we will go directly from Quito to BAÑOS DE AMBATO leaving 30 minutes later and we will have some activities in Baños. 4. Tag: Baños De Ambato – Riobamba
09h00 The tour starts! Baños is a beautiful valley with waterfalls next to the TUNGURAHUA volcano. In the morning you will have the opportunity for an adventure RAFTING activity over the PASTAZA river. After the lunch we will continue to Riobamba. (Übernachtung voraussichtlich im La Andaluza).
5. Tag: Riobamba – Chimborazo – Cuenca
08H00 Pick up from the lobby of the hotel. In the early nineteenth century, German naturalist Alexander Von Humboldt together with his expedition came to Ecuador, cross the Ecuadorian range in the Andes, gave it the name of „Avenue of the Volcanoes“, and indicated that the Chimborazo is the highest mountain in Ecuador; this news was quickly released in the Old Continent. Altitude: 20565 feet, or 6268 meters. We will visit the first refuge of this impressive mountain. Later on, we’ll continue driving to the South of Ecuador until reaching the city of CUENCA. 6. Tag: Cuenca
Declared „Heritage of the World“ on 1999, and also known as Ecuador’s „Athens“ due to its beautiful architecture, rich culture, art and exquisite cuisine, this city’s full name is „Santa Ana of the Four Rivers of Cuenca“. 09h00 Walking city tour visiting the most attractive places like: The Calderon Park, the new and old Cathedrals, the Flower Market, the Modern Arts Museum, and the Homero Ortega Panama Hat Factory, where you’ll learn the complete process of manufacturing of these world famous hats. Later on, we will visit the „broken bridge“, and finally the tourist balcony of TURI, where we can see a panoramic view of the city. Leisure afternoon. 7. Tag: Cuenca – Parque Nacional El Cajas – Guayaquil – Parque Historico
Check out and departure to GUAYAQUIL, passing through EL CAJAS NATIONAL PARK. Panoramic view of the lagoons. This place was visited by Alexander von Humboldt in 1878. He described that he was absolutely amazed to see the lagoons in the middle of a narrow Ecuadorian Andean range. After approximately 4 hours driving we will arrive to GUAYAQUIL, considered to be Ecuador`s economical capital. You`ll visit the PARQUE HISTORICO (note that on Monday and Tuesday is closed) a place where the nature, culture and history meet in the past. (Übernachtung voraussichtlich im Wyndham Hotel).
